The estate

Belle Mare welcomes you to their estate to let you get to know the gourmet aromatic wines of the Pays d’Oc region and its wonderful AOPs, Picpoul de Pinet, with southern seaside nuances of the Étang de Thau and the Languedoc Rouge AOP.

An estate between land and sea

Near Montpellier, between Mèze and Marseillan, the Domaine Belle Mare covers 68 hectares, 63 of which are planted with vines on the banks of the Étang de Thau, the largest and deepest seaside saltwater lake in the Languedoc region.

With its intense blue water, this inland sea covers 20 km in the centre of the Agde, Pézenas and Sète triangle. This cradle of oyster and mussel farming is known for its famous Bouzigues oysters. The dry, arid climate of the land, tempered by the cool salt air from the lagoon, is perfect for bringing our grapes to full maturity.

The Domaine Belle Mare: A charming story

Over 20 years ago, it was love at first sight between a man and this unique land - the Domaine Belle Mare forges a link between the Land and Mankind. The owner fell in love with the vineyard nestled between the garrigue and the lagoon. With the help of his team and this passion shared for over 2 decades, we are delighted to share our attachment to this unique, authentic terroir with you.

Preserving nature

In a spirit of respect for the biodiversity and the ecosystems of the Étang de Thau, we combine sustainable agriculture and vineyard management in keeping with HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale - High Environmental Quality) certification to provide you with wines elaborated in compliance with the requirements for preserving nature.

Grape varieties

Rich with 8 red grape varieties (Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Cabernet-sauvignon, Mourvèdre, Pinot noir, Alicante) and 7 white grape varieties (Picpoul blanc, Vermentino, Viognier, Sauvgnon, Chardonnay, Roussanne, Muscat petit grain), the estate has the possibility offered generous and pleasant wines.

Our know-how

Starting in mid-August, grape samples are regularly taken from each parcel of land to analyse their maturity in order to start harvesting each variety at just the right time.

At the start of winter, once vinification is complete, our wines are tasted and some of them are blended to find the ideal combination for elaborating our range of wines.

Since 2016, the "Qualité Sud de France" regional approval commission has renewed our certification, thus rewarding our know-how and highlighting the quality of the welcome at our establishment.
