An exceptional terroir

In the heart of the Languedoc region, on the land alongside the nourishing lagoon, the vines at the Domaine Belle Mare thrive under the Mediterranean sun.

An alliance of the elements

The Domaine Belle Mare enjoys a climate and a terroir favourable to the vine's growth. The clay-lime terraces are loaded with quartz gravel that drains the water flowing down the gentle slopes to the banks of the Étang de Thau. The rest of our vines enjoy a sand/loam soil that is good for white grapes. Between the land and the sea, we have a unique microclimate. Plenty of sunshine, cool nights and mist from the lagoon protect us from excessive temperature differences and bring out the distinctive character of our grape varieties.

An emblematic variety

Along the Mediterranean Sea, on the Gulf of Lion, one of the oldest vineyards in France lies on the banks of the Étang de Thau. The AOC Picpoul de Pinet, with 1,300 hectares of vines stretching out as far as the eye can see, is the largest white wine appellation in the Languedoc region. Its unique grape variety, the Picquepoul Blanc, gives an iodine flavour and a vivacity that is appreciated by lovers of shellfish and original discoveries.

Our wines

In the heart of the Pays d’Oc region, the Domaine de Belle Mare enjoys particularly favourable conditions for making the typical wines of the region thanks to its southern climate and the influence of the Étang de Thau. Your senses are truly awakened - the whites and rosés are lively and flavourful, while the reds are elegant and powerful.
